{"id":971,"date":"2019-09-15T07:38:48","date_gmt":"2019-09-15T07:38:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bitcoin.ng\/?p=971"},"modified":"2019-09-16T12:37:04","modified_gmt":"2019-09-16T12:37:04","slug":"nigerian-bitcoiner-refunds-7-8-btc-80k-he-mistakenly-received","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bitcoin.ng\/nigerian-bitcoiner-refunds-7-8-btc-80k-he-mistakenly-received\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigerian Bitcoiner Refunds 7.8 BTC ($80k) He Mistakenly Received"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Keith Mali Chung<\/em> &#8211; a Nigerian bitcoiner (one who owns or transacts in Bitcoin) has reportedly returned 7.8 BTC in an honest gesture, after receiving the funds from a fellow Bitcoiner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Keith, known as<strong> <\/strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"@BitcoinKeith (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BitcoinKeith\/status\/1172108676217393152\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>@BitcoinKeith<\/strong><\/a> on Twitter, he mistakenly received the large sum of BTC on September 12 from someone he must have transacted with in the past;&nbsp; as he expressed readiness to refund the BTC .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As measure to avoid false claimants of the BTC, Keith requested whoever owned the Bitcoin to provide details of the transaction including time of transaction, address sent from, and exact amount in digits sent. Keith\u2019s tweet reads:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>Please RT, I received huge sum of BTC from an unknown sender and it\u2019s definitely a mistake from someone I must have had transaction with before. Kindly DM me time of transaction, your address and exact digits sent. Thank you. Kindly retweet.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Keith is said to have also reached out to various member crypto communities and social media platforms in an attempt to find the sender; surprisingly his attempts received some <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"backlash (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BitcoinKeith\/status\/1172243133343645697\" target=\"_blank\">backlash<\/a> with people asking him to keep the coins. As suggestion Keith declined saying he\u2019ll rather turn it over to charity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interestingly, on the next day <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"September 13 (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BitcoinKeith\/status\/1172480800543182848\" target=\"_blank\">September 13<\/a>, Keith tweeted that he has found the owner of the bitcoin; as he remarked:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>\u201cIn Africa, which is where I am situated, 80% we transact crypto through WhatsApp escrows and someone who himself and I had a business in the past made this huge mistake of sending 7.8 BTC into my blockchain wallet. This event reminds us of the need to check correct wallet addresses before sending BTC. As a personal tip, do well to check the first three and last three alphanumeric characters before sending or making any cryptocurrency transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Be like Keith.
