UK Travel Firm Allows Customers Book Flights With Bitcoin (BTC)

By Sagetwriter

A UK-based travel company – Alternative Airlines has partnered with cryptocurrency firm Utrust to integrate flight payments with cryptocurrency.

The new partnership will offer customers the option to book flights while paying with cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Dash (DASH), DigiByte (DGB) and Utrust’s native token (UTK).

Further details show that both companies will also introduce instant cross-border transactions, buyer protection and crypto-to-cash settlements for clients of Alternative Airlines. This new service will be open to over 650 airline operators linked with the brand such as British Airways, Delta, Virgin, Emirates and more.

Speaking on the initiative, Utrust CEO, Nuno Correia explained:

“For business or leisure, flight travel can be expensive with consumers saving for months to afford a trip. Considered a high ticket item, it is imperative that consumers are protected when booking flights. Utrust is providing Alternative Airlines’ customers with the increased security and convenience of cryptocurrency payments, and reducing processing fees, to bring greater transparency and trust to the world of online payments.

On its path, Utrust looks to be expanding its cryptocurrency payments across various sectors. The company had June this year, partnered with Portuguese club –SL Benfica allowing club fans pay for tickets and club merchandise using cryptocurrencies – Bitcoin, Ether and UTK token.

Also, there has been an increase in crypto for flight projects globally; with the Miami International Airport now home to a first Bitcoin ATM; a clear positive for mainstream adoption.
