Globally recognized female rapper, Megan Thee Stallion gave away $1 million in Bitcoin to her fans ahead of the Christmas holidays. Shortly after, she trended on Twitter under the hashtag #BitcoinMeg.
The Houston rapper wanted to celebrate Christmas with her fans by giving away the apex cryptocurrency which recently broke past $23,000 and $24,000 shattering price expectations.
She stated,
“To celebrate, I’m giving $1 MILLION in Bitcoin to as many hotties as I can! [We’ll] be giving out this million units until it’s gone.”
Users were encouraged to make tweets with the hashtag, #BitcoinMeg in order to be chosen as transferees of the Bitcoin. Twitter CEO also took to tweeting, confirming that the promises made on Megan’s Twitter profile were legitimate.
According to Megan,
“Hotties bitcoin is a really smart investment and increases over time.”
Despite many of her fans being newbies to Bitcoin, they were very excited to have received funds in the cryptocurrency.
Dorsey has played a huge part in shaping the world-view of cryptocurrencies. His social media platform, Twitter, is one of the first platforms to provide a Bitcoin emoji and have monthly trending topics referring to the cryptocurrency.
He says,
“For those who believe in the potential of crypto, we also all have to believe that we’re still in the very early stages and that there’s a lot more to come,”
Megan, known for her provocative videos and daring lyricism is among a new wave of celebrities using cryptocurrencies with their fans. With the continued influx of celebrities into the cryptocurrency space, we may find that the adoption of digital tokens picks up, much faster than expected. It is usually much easier to trust in a seemingly esoteric technology such as blockchain if it is backed by an individual one knows or trusts.
