By Sagetwriter

China’s Blockchain Research Institute under the auspice of the Center for Information and Industry Development (CCID) has released the 17th publication of its bi-monthly public blockchain technology evaluation index.

The index ranks 37 coins and tokens of the most widely used public blockchains by evaluating their total scores using three (3) criteria: – Basic Technology, Applicability, and Creativity.

According to the latest CCID rankings, EOS maintains its spot as the best performing blockchain project, followed by Tron (TRX) and Ethereum (ETH) in that order. The number one cryptocurrency by market cap, Bitcoin places 14th with an overall score of 104.9, three spots down from its last rating.

For basic technology, the top 3 projects include EOS, Tron, and IOST. For applicability metrics, Ethereum, Tron, and Nebulas rank as the top 3.

However, under the creativity index, Bitcoin (BTC) takes first spot, followed by EOS, Ethereum and Application Chain.

Big Movers

Across all 37 ranked cryptocurrency projects, Bitshares emerged as the highest mover, rising 11 places to reach 13th spot.

Other impressive projects include Big Zero, Dash, Ant, Zilliqa and NashChain; which all updated their algorithms and operating systems.

The CCID acknowledged the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on in the development of the selected projects; hence the little changes to the rankings.

NOTE: The CCID rating does not represent a general view of all cryptocurrency projects listed or the community, the ratings reportedly favour Chinese-owned blockchain projects over others.
